When I first launched my yoga membership, it was at the tail end of lockdown and people weren’t too keen to go to busy halls and meet loads of people.
A few years later, a lot has changed.
Thanks to the vaccine, Covid is a lot less of a threat and the majority of people feel comfortable going out and about, and attending face-to-face yoga classes.
So does an online membership still have a place?
From what I can see, it does.
Here is why:
Convenience
With an online membership, you can access your yoga classes with the click of a few buttons. All you have to do now is to unroll your mat, and possibly move a small piece of furniture (or a pet) out of the way.
It doesn’t get any easier.
You can revisit classes again and again
It has happened to me often to go to a face-to-face yoga class that felt so good for me that I wanted to do it again. But, a few days later, I couldn’t remember enough to practise at home.
No risk of that happening with the online membership. You can revisit classes as often and as much as you like.
Timing
If you are busy, it can be hard to carve out the time for a 1-hour session, plus the travel there and back. You end up having to find 1.5 – 2 hours of time.
Not always convenient, or even possible.
Instead, with an online membership, you can practise when it works for you: first thing in the morning before getting dressed for the day, last thing at night to help you get a good night sleep, just after work to unwind and be able to enjoy your evening…
One of my clients told me a few years ago that her dream was to be able to practise yoga every day. With my online membership, she can now do just that.
Privacy
One of my clients told me a few weeks ago that she liked the practice online because she didn’t compare herself constantly to the other students in the class.
Even though yoga isn’t a competitive sport, it can be hard to ignore the super bendy person at the front of the class and, rather than feeling uplifted by the session, you end up feeling bad about yourself.
No risk of that when you practise online. All you see is the teacher.
So, if you want to do yoga but don’t have the time to drive to a class, if you want to be able to fit it in but you can’t find a class at a time that suits you or if you feel a bit self-conscious and don’t want to be around people, a yoga membership is exactly what you need.
